Basketball Ball Handling from the Kid

Category: Unusual peoplebimwah @ 7:05 am

This is one of the most amazing displays of basketball I have ever seen.

I’ve seen ball handlers before. Great ball handlers. I’ve been fortunate to see the Harlem Golbetrotters play on several ocassions.

Don’t get me wrong, they were good. very good.

But this kid is simply astounding. This is incredible basketball handling. Even if you don’t like basketball, you are going to love watching this kid.

He is able to dribble like no one you have ever seen. These are true basketball tricks. The basketball training that went into learning how to handle a ball like this is sheer dedication. Here’s some Better Basketball’s Better Ball Handling (Dribbling)

And then he strarts to do the same basketball moves with two basketballs. Throough the legs, over the legs, behind the back… And he can shoot on top of everything!

Simply incredible! The piece is fom a television show. Watch Eric’s Little Heros, right here.

Give this video a cople of seconds to load. There is also a brief ad at the beginning…

World’s Scariest Hike for Hiking

Category: Unusual Circumstances,Unusual Things,Weird Placesbimwah @ 12:44 am

Hiking is one of the joys of life. What can be better than to go out, get some fresh air and enjoy the wonders of nature.

There are places whch stretch the idea of hiking a bit. A long stretch…The following video on The Wolrd’s Scariest Hikes is one of those which distorts the idea of hiking for enjoyment. It is a hike of terror.

It’s called El Camino del Rey.

You are given a hikers eye view as you go up a mountain trail. You start the hike by stepping on metal pegs which are embedded in the side of the mountain. And for added balance, there are handholds. Hang on for your life!

Each step can be riddled with extreme danger. This is after all a hike not for the feint of heart…This may be the world’s scariest hiking trail.

What was most amazing to me is that at points in the hike there are acutally stairs. I had to wonder, who would build these…and why.

Also there are parts of the hike which is paved. These are paved portions which are basically being held in mid air. Then you come to a part of the hike which has been washed out…

Totally amazing.

I’ll enjoy this hike in the comfort of my own home.. thank you very much.

Ah the wonders of YouTube..

New Rube Goldberg Invention

Category: ,Unusual Machines,Unusual Thingsbimwah @ 10:56 am

Rube Goldberg was an amazing inventor.

Here is a brief biography from his official website:

Rube Goldberg Biography

Rube Goldberg (1883-1970) was a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, sculptor, and author.

Reuben Lucius Goldberg (Rube Goldberg) was born in San Francisco on July 4th, 1883. After graduating University of California Berkeley with a degree in engineering, Rube went on to work as an engineer for the City of San Francisco Water and Sewers Department.

After six months Rube shifted gears and left the Sewers Department to become an office boy in the sports department of a San Francisco newspaper. While there he began to submit drawings and cartoons to the editor until he was finally published. Rube soon moved from San Francisco to New York to work for the Evening Mail drawing daily cartoons. This led to syndication and a national presence – and the rest is history

And here is a great ribute to Rube:

Reporter Destroys Artwork

Category: ,Unusual Circumstances,Unusual peoplebimwah @ 7:19 pm

A reporter interviewing an ice artist did the unthinkable. He gets up close and personal with the artist and his sculpture. Unfortunately he got a little to close.

He leans on the sculture. This is every artist’s (and reporter’s) ultimate nightmare.

And the reporter was just doing his job…hmmm…

This is one of my favorite serise of weirdness:

Incredible Bycycle Stunts from Beau Forrest

Category: Unusual Machines,Unusual peoplealbertgrande @ 10:48 am

These are some of the most amazing bike riding I have ever seen. The rider is Beau Forrest. He was an incredible rider.

While some stunts may seem easy, this kind of riding takes countless hours of practice. And more practice. This is no easy task.

Sadly Beau will not be doing any more riding… The biker is Beau Forrest. The video is a tribute to him.
He was only 18 when died. He was hanging out with friends, near a lake, when he decided to go for a swim. He just got up and jumped backwards into a lake. Unfortunately the water was very shallow…

Here is how his father described it:

“He was with his mates reminiscing about old times, he didn’t drink, he didn’t like beer.
‘He said “I am going for a swim” and got up.
‘Nobody saw Beau dive into the pool although, due to the nature of his injuries, we believe he jumped into the shallow water backwards.”
