Who is the Tallest Man in America?
George Bell stands tall, all 7 feet 8 inches of him. For the last 20 years he has worked as a Sheriff in Norfolk, Virginia. According to The Associated Press, Bell is very philosophical about his physical presence stating, “I have no choice but to like it.”
He added “I’m used to a small man’s world, I’ve been dealing with a small man’s world since I was a kid.”
He actually insists it has helped him out on the job with prison inmates. “They’ve never seen anyone this tall before, so they’re amazed,” Bell said. “They want to talk.” He also contends “It’s more of amazement, basically. The eyes get wide and glassy, amazed just to see someone so tall.”.
He is very personable, and that is why he has good relationships with all those around him.
Bell will be honored in a special edition of the Guinness Book of World Records 
Bell has a 43 inch waistline, wears size 19 shoes, has a 43 inch inseam and a 45 inch sleeve. In addition to playing basketball in college, he played professional basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters and the Harlem Wizards.
He is two inches taller than the Yao Ming the NBA’s tallest player. He is shorter than current World’s Tallest man, Ukraine’s, 8-foot-5.5 Leonid Stadnyk and China’s Bao Xi Shun, who is 7 feet 8.95 inches.
The tallest man to ever live was Robert Wadlow, from Alton, Illinois. He stood 8 feet 11.09 inches in height and weighed 440 pounds. Wadlow died of a foot infection, in 1940, at the age of 22.
